When children cannot safely remain with their parents, relatives and close family friends often step forward without hesitation.
A grandparent changes their retirement plans. An aunt or uncle opens their home. An older sibling takes on responsibilities they never expected. A trusted family friend becomes the stable, familiar adult a child needs.
This is known as kinship care.
Kinship caregivers help children remain connected to their family, culture, community, and identity during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. But many begin this journey with little preparation and limited access to legal guidance, financial assistance, therapeutic care, respite, and trauma-informed parenting support.
Foster Kinship exists to fill that gap.
As Nevada’s only nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to kinship families, Foster Kinship provides evidence-based, trauma-informed services that help caregivers create safe, stable, and nurturing homes for the children in their care.
Through this special August campaign, every eligible gift from a new or qualifying returning donor will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Helms Helps Foundation.
That means your first or renewed gift can provide twice the immediate support for Southern Nevada kinship families.
Campaign donations will help expand Foster Kinship’s federally recognized, evidence-based Kinship Navigator Program through:
Licensed therapy helps children and caregivers process trauma, strengthen relationships, and build healthier futures.
Respite services give caregivers time to rest and recharge, helping reduce stress and support long-term family stability.
Trust-Based Relational Intervention® training gives caregivers practical tools for building safety, trust, connection, and healing.
Dedicated support helps families raising children with intellectual or developmental disabilities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, and complex behavioral health needs feel less alone.
These expanded services are expected to support approximately 40 Southern Nevada kinship families raising more than 72 children, directly benefiting at least 112 people.
Every gift helps children and caregivers access meaningful support.
$50 can help provide a therapy session that allows a child to begin processing trauma.
$100 can help equip a caregiver with evidence-based parenting tools and guidance.
$500 can help provide specialized support groups and therapeutic services for families raising children with developmental disabilities or prenatal substance exposure.
$1,000 can help provide intensive therapeutic services that strengthen an entire family.
Your generosity does more than meet an immediate need. It helps families build the emotional strength, parenting skills, and community connections needed to create safe and nurturing homes for the long term.
Your first gift can make twice the difference this August.
By becoming a Foster Kinship donor, you are joining a community that believes children deserve to remain safely connected to family whenever possible and that caregivers deserve meaningful support after stepping forward.
Your involvement does not have to end with one donation. New supporters can continue making a difference as donors, volunteers, advocates, community partners, and trusted voices for kinship families.
Your past generosity remains an important part of our story.
If it has been some time since your last gift, this August is a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with the mission. Eligible renewed gifts will also be matched by the Helms Helps Foundation.
We would be honored to welcome you back to the Foster Kinship community.
You can make an especially meaningful difference by introducing someone new to our mission.
Many people care deeply about children and families but have never heard the term kinship care. They may not realize how many grandparents, relatives, older siblings, and close family friends quietly step forward during times of family crisis.

One introduction could lead to a new donor today and a long-term supporter, volunteer, advocate, or partner in the future.
Your gift can make twice the immediate impact this August.
Your introduction to someone new can make an impact that continues long after the campaign ends.
Together, we can help more children remain safely connected to the people they know and love while giving kinship caregivers the support they need to build stronger families and brighter futures.
Give. Share. Invite someone new.
Because kids deserve family, and families deserve support.
Eligible gifts include donations from first-time donors and qualifying returning donors. Gifts of up to $5,000 per eligible donor may be matched by the Helms Helps Foundation.
All donations directly support Foster Kinship’s work, whether or not they qualify for matching funds.
Offline donations and checks are also welcome.
