The Kinship Care Roadmap is a simple, easy-to-follow guide designed for caregivers with children in foster care in Clark County.

• The choices you have as a caregiver
• The differences between legal and financial options
• Your rights and responsibilities
• Court timelines and permanency options

Foster Kinship facilitates the kinship licensing training classes “Caring for Our Own” for Clark County Family Services.

Details:

• 5-week course (15 hours total)
• Classes are 3 hours each
• Offered in person at our Las Vegas office and online via Zoom
• Free childcare available for children ages 2+ during in-person sessions

Foster Kinship facilitates the kinship licensing training classes “Caring for Our Own” for the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) in Nevada.

Foster Kinship facilitates the kinship licensing training classes “Caring for Our Own” for the Washoe County Human Services Agency (WCHSA).

• 3-week course (9 hours total)
• Classes are 3 hours each
• Offered online via Zoom

Keeping children safe starts with the basics. Our nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians offer hands-on car seat education so you can feel confident transporting children safely.

‍

During this class, you will learn:

• How to choose the right car seat for your child’s age, size, and needs
• How to determine whether a seat should be rear-facing or forward-facing
• How to choose the safest position for a car seat in your vehicle
• How to properly install a car seat using either the seatbelt or LATCH system
• How to correctly secure and harness your child

Training Options:

• In-Person Class (3 hours):
  
  • Includes live instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and a full car seat check. At the end of the class, a technician will work with you to install your car seat in your vehicle and make sure you feel confident doing it on your own.
• Hybrid Option:
  
  • Complete the educational portion online through videos and guided learning, then schedule an in-person appointment with a technician to check installation and ensure everything is set up safely.

Classes are offered in English and Spanish and are free for kinship families. Free childcare is available for in-person sessions (registration required).

We offer free CPR/AED/First Aid training so you can feel prepared and confident in an emergency.

This training covers:

• Infant, child, and adult CPR
• How to properly use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• First aid care for common injuries and emergencies across all ages

‍

By the end of the training, you will have the knowledge and hands-on practice needed to respond quickly and effectively in a crisis.

Training Options:

• In-Person Class (4 hours):
  
  • A fully interactive class with live instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. This option is ideal if you prefer learning in a group setting and want guided support as you build your skills.
• Hybrid Option:
  
  • Complete the learning portion online at your own pace through videos, practice questions, and a written quiz. After passing the online portion, you will schedule an in-person appointment to complete hands-on skills testing with an instructor.

Participants receive a CPR certification valid for 2 years after completing the full course.

Free childcare is available for in-person sessions (registration required).

As part of kinship licensing, some caregivers will be required to complete online classes through the Just in Time Training Program. Click the link below to access the classes online, as well as study guides to assist your learning process.

Computer Lab: Call 702-546-9988 to make an appointment to use one of the computers in the Kinship Training Institute to complete your online classes. Study guides and testing support provided.
